2014年から、毎年暮れに阪神の高架下にある「アトリエ2001」の清水敏明さんを訪ねている。大岩久美さんと行くので、ヴォイン・パホインが年に一度復活する日とも言えるだろう。気がつけば、この年末訪問も今年で５年目になるが、その度にいつも偶然、堀尾貞治さんの作品を拝見する機会に恵まれてきた。東京から神戸にやって来た清水さんは、堀尾さんに「自分でやりなさい」と肩を押されて、1992年にこのアトリエ2001をオープンした。現場集団空気の一員として、堀尾さんの仕事を至近距離から追いかけて来た人でもある。
今年11月3日、堀尾さんが他界された。アトリエ2001には、清水さんの手元に残された堀尾さんの作品と他の作家さんの作品が「セール」の札とあわせて所狭しと展示されていた。在庫処分だそうだが、2020年まではスペースは閉めないと清水さんは話していた。坂を下ったBBプラザ美術館では、2014年に様々な場所で開催された堀尾さんの展示やパフォーマンスのアーカイヴで埋め尽くされた追悼の壁が建てられていた。それにあわせて、個人が持っている堀尾貞治作品の写真をアップするfacebookページも作られている。堀尾さんは風のように早い所作で膨大な数の作品を生み出してこられた。パフォーマンスのときなどは、先頭に立つ堀尾さんを追いかけても追いつけず、痕跡をたどるのが精一杯なほどの速さだった。堀尾さんの底知れぬエネルギーに取り憑かれた人たちがここにはたくさんいる。堀尾さんの空気が神戸から消えてしまうことはないだろう。心よりご冥福をお祈りします。ありがとうございました。

At the end of the year since 2014, I visit Mr. Toshiaki Shimizu, the owner of Atelier 2001 located under the Hanshin Railway tracks. I do so with Kumi Ohiwa, so it’s also the day of the year when we reunite as Voin Pahoin. Time goes fast, and this year-end visit is already our 5th time, and at every visit we had the chance to see Mr. Horio Sadaharuc’s work by chance. It was Mr. Horio who encouraged Mr. Shimizu, who moved to Kobe from Tokyo, to realise his idea to start up his own art space, and thus the Atelier 2001 was conceived in 1992. Mr. Shimizu also closely followed Mr. Horio’s work as a member of Mr. Horio’s supporters’ group “Kuuki”.
On November 3rd this year, Mr. Horio passed away. The walls of Atelier 2001 were filled by his works left with Mr. Shimizu and other artists’ works. As the “sales” signages suggest, the exhibition is titled “store closing sales” but Mr. Shimizu will keep the space run until 2020. At the BB Plaza Art Museum down the hill, a wall showing documentations of the exhibitions and performances by Mr. Horio was put up to commemorate this much-loved artist. In this occasion, a Facebook page was also set up to share photographs of Mr. Horio’s works from any individuals. Mr. Horio made artwork fast like the wind, producing an uncountable number of works. During performances, I always tried to catch him leading the flow at the front, but I ended up failing. His movement was so fast that I could only follow a path left after him. Many of us are still haunted by the infinite energy of Mr. Horio. Aura of his creativity will never disappear from this world. Rest in peace. Thank you very much.
